Andrey Shibko, born in Minsk, Belarus in 1975, studied under Professor E. Poukst of the Minsk Conservatory. In 1992, he was admitted to the Tchaikovsky National Conservatory of Music in Moscow, Russia, and studied under the famous pianist Valery Kastelsky (the last student of the famous Nikoz school). Under the direction of Valery Kastelsky, he received his Ph.D. from the Tchaikovsky National Conservatory of Music in 1999.
In April 1995, Andrey Shibko won the 19th D'Angelo International Artists Competition in Erie (Pennsylvania, USA), which was the first international award for his piano performances. Committee Chairman Sam Rotman said: "He played Liszt’s The First Piano Concerto in E major has an amazing expressiveness..." "If a competition can discover a unique genius, it is a huge success."
